Initially I trained as a professional musician at the Royal Academy of Music and later at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I worked professionally as an orchestral musician, teacher, soloist, and session musician. I am approved by the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) https://www.bapam.org.uk for the specialist treatment of Performance Anxieties and work- related stresses. Having had direct experience of working at the highest levels in the music industry, and with all subsequent therapeutic training and qualifications, I am best placed to understand people who are suffering burn out, work related stress and performance anxieties.
Having studied at King’s College London, Guy’s and St Thomas Hospitals and at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, I have 20 years’ experience in the National Health Service as a Clinician, Head of Arts Therapies, Supervisor and Clinical Research Lead. I provide private and health insurance funded brief and longer-term counselling for a broad range of psychological problems. I am qualified to provide time-limited cognitive analytic and behavioural treatments and longer-term psychodynamic therapy and music therapy. I completed extensive continuous professional development throughout these years to maintain UKCP registration, which includes poly-vagal theories and equine assisted therapy.
With an established private practice since 2007, I have undertaken continuous profession development that includes equine assisted psycho-traumatology and the Trust technique for working therapeutically with people and pets.
I have implemented a Randomised Controlled Trial in a national high secure hospital and completed award winning doctoral research. Having published two clinical books and numerous chapters and papers. I can provide both clinical and research supervision and supportive mentoring for NHS clinicians including nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, music therapists and psychologists.
